Herbs to Calm an Upset Digestive System

No one is exempted in having a digestive problem. In fact, we even barely notice that there are times that our organs become upset. A simple stomachache is already a sign that our digestive system is upset. And there is a sad fact that when we start to feel this kind of condition the first thing that we do is knock on our medicine cabinet and drink commercial medicine with aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone components. Well, it really helps. In fact, they are the most effective chemical that will ease your stomachache, spasm, and gastric ulcer. But, we should not forget the fact that these processed chemicals will soon leave a not so good side effect in our body. Another thing is the bacteria that these chemicals are killing will soon become immune to their power if you’ll always use them to ease your ailments. Be aware that there are herbs that will surely cure you without giving you any side effect, and bacteria will have difficulty in becoming immune to the herbs’ ability to cure.

Peppermint is a good remedy for stomachache and spasm, and even in irritable bowel syndrome. Thousands of years ago, the aromatic oil and phenol component of peppermint is already used to aid digestive problems.

Chamomile is another good choice in easing your stomach problem. It naturally has a spasm dissolving and anxiety dissolving ability. And this little flower has amazing antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that give comfort to the patient’s condition. This relaxes the muscles of your digestive organs, too.

Lemon balm is another herb that belongs to mint family. Just like peppermint, lemon balm is also used to ease stomach pain, dyspepsia, and spasm. It relaxes your digestive organs, too.

You can also use tisane to relax your upset digestive system. It is an herbal tea made by any herbal plant like camellia sinensis. You have to brew it in water before drinking it to cure your digestive problems.

Rosemary is also a good reliever for spasm due to its antispasmodic property. It has a rosmaric acid that is commonly known as polyphenol.

There are lots of herbal medicines that you can use to cure your digestive system, what you only need to do is take a thorough research on what appropriate herbal medicine that will cure or aid your digestive problem. Of course, these herbs are only applicable for minor ailments, it is merely important for you to remember that if you are experiencing a major problem, a physician’s opinion is the first thing that you should seek for.

Keep eating foods that your body needs, and forget those foods that will harm your system. Too much salty foods will create stress in your digestive organs. It also contributes in wounding your stomach and intestines, and to avoid these things to happen, you also need to avoid eating them. Junk foods are also silent killers. They damage your system slowly; especially your stomach, intestines, and can even damage your kidneys, a sad thought for someone who can’t leave without eating junk foods even in one day.
